Cluster of Information Technology of the Novosibirsk region

The Cluster of Information Technology of the Novosibirsk region (referred to as “IT-cluster”) has been established in order to raise the social and economic potential of the Novosibirsk region, to ensure the competitive ability of the high-tech and IT industries, and to fill the revenues part of the local budget.

Cluster tasks

To provide information to the IT-cluster participants (enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses, higher educational institutions and research institutions) on government support measures provided to businesses
To provide consultations to the IT-cluster participants and support in developing documentation required for obtaining government support of their investment projects and development programs at the levels of the Russian Federation and of the Novosibirsk region
To raise the level of employees' professional competencies in IT-cluster organizations
To increase the number of government orders, subsidies and grants to be obtained by the IT-cluster participants
To raise the economic growth rates of the region, to raise labor productivity and production intensification in the area of IT, and to raise the competitive abilities in the area of IT
To bring the IT-products of Novosibirsk onto international markets, to assist in promoting the brand of the Novosibirsk region, to ensure enhancement of the competitive strength of the cluster participants
To form the positive image of the IT-cluster among the population of the city, region, and the country
To establish effective cooperation among authorities, business, and educational institutions

Management structure

The Cluster Council

The Cluster Council is a consultative authority, consisting of cluster representatives, of legislative and executive authorities of the Novosibirsk region, of local administrative authorities of the Novosibirsk region’s municipal formations (cluster basing territories), established for coordinating priorities, for forming the cluster development program, and for coordinating its implementation.

"SibAcademSoft" association

Association for the Information Technologies promotion "SibAcademSoft" acts as a basis for forming the Cluster of Information Technology. The association brings together representatives of big business, small innovative companies, scientific organizations of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as representatives of foreign companies, like IBM, Samsung America, Hewlett-Packard, and SUN Microsystems. The motto of SibAcademSoft is "We are making Siberia the world centre of competencies in the area of IT and innovations".

Activities

The key activities of the IT-cluster participants are: analysis of large data arrays (Big Data), geographic information systems and computer-aided design systems, development and localization of mobile applications, process control systems, and cloud technologies.
